Doggy Purgatory Island
Joc Realizat Pentru ASUS ROG Challenge 2024.
Backstory
Deep in the heart of the archipelago, there exists a mysterious, ever-changing island. The locals call it The Lava Labyrinth, a place where the ground is constantly shifting, and the only way to survive is to stay one step ahead of the perilous lava surrounding you. It's said that the island was once home to a great civilization of anthropomorphic animals who harnessed the power of the platforms, which mysteriously appear and disappear, like portals to other realms.
You play as Rufus, an adventurous and resourceful dog with a natural knack for parkour. Having lost his way during an exploratory expedition, Rufus now finds himself stuck on this bizarre island. The only way out? To master the platforms by pressing the mysterious "T" key that causes new platforms to rise from the depths of lava. Your only goal: keep jumping, stay alive, and explore the island's endless possibilities. But be quick—each platform vanishes as quickly as it appears!
As you jump through the ever-changing landscapes, you’ll discover more than just an island. What secrets lie hidden beneath the platforms? What if Rufus is more than just a lost traveler—what if he's meant to solve a much larger mystery? For now, though, it’s all about mastering the jump, one platform at a time.
Gameplay:
- Endless Platforming: Press the "T" key to summon platforms in random arrangements, and jump from one to the next. There's no limit to the height you can reach or the challenges you’ll face.
- Survive the Lava: The island is surrounded by lava, so your best bet is to keep moving and keep jumping. The platforms rise and fall like a living, breathing world, and it's up to you to stay ahead of the chaos.
- Simple, Relaxing Fun: There’s no need to rush. Whether you’re casually talking on the phone or waiting for a moment of inspiration, Island of Infinite Jumps is the perfect game to pass the time. Every jump feels rewarding, and every new platform is a small victory.
How I Made the Game:
I’m a first-time game developer, and this is my submission for the game jam! I’ve been learning as I go, watching tutorials and experimenting with Unity. I used pre-made assets to help me get started—without them, I’d still be stuck trying to make a single platform! The game mechanics may be simple, but I tried to make them fun and engaging, while focusing on delivering a light, easy-to-play experience.
I’m super proud of what I’ve created, and even though it’s a simple game about jumping on random platforms, I hope you find it fun to play when you need a quick break, a distraction, or even just some random joy to keep you company while you chat or think.
Why You Might Like It:
- Perfect for Idle Time: Sometimes you just need something mindless yet engaging—Island of Infinite Jumps lets you zone out while keeping your reflexes sharp.
- A No-Stress Experience: There’s no timer, no score, just you, Rufus, and the endless platforms. Take it slow, explore, and enjoy the quirky randomness of it all.
- Great for Short Sessions: Play for five minutes or an hour, the island is always ready to offer more challenges and surprises!
